Caring Places Management Announces Participation in National Assisted Living Week

NEWS RELEASE

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Caring Places Management is proud to announce that all of its communities will participate in this year’s National Assisted Living Week. National Assisted Living Week will be held from September 11 – 17, 2022. Participation in this annual event allows all Caring Places Management residents to enjoy various exciting activities during the week.

Celebrating National Assisted Living Week is a joy and honor for Caring Places Management. Some of the games and activities available in their residences will include:

  • Rock and Roll Day: Residents will celebrate with live music and dancing, and staff and residents are encouraged to wear band attire from any era
  • Royal Residents: Residents will vote for their community King and Queen and honor them with hand-decorated crowns
  • Disco Party: Remembering those fun disco days
  • Baby Photo Board: Residents and staff members can play “Who’s who?” by matching baby photos with the correct grown-up picture
  • Glamour Glory Days: Residents can dress in period clothing and have a vintage photo shoot with real printed photos they can send to their families
  • Camping Day: No campout is complete without s’mores, fireside stories, tents, and a cooler or two

Showing staff how much they are appreciated is also an important part of National Assisted Living Week. Caring Places Management is planning a team-building scavenger hunt for staff in all of their residences. Staff members can get in on the fun by partnering up to solve puzzles, put clues together, and win a big prize.

Participating in National Assisted Living Week is just one way the leadership at Caring Places Management works to show staff and residents how important they are and how important it is to keep having fun at any age.

About National Assisted Living Week

National Assisted Living Week (NALW) was first established by the National Center for Assisted Living in 1995 to provide an opportunity for staff, volunteers, residents, their friends and family, and the larger community to shine a light on the critical role of assisted living centers. Assisted living centers care for individuals with disabilities and seniors who can no longer live independently.

This year’s National Assisted Living Week theme is “Joyful Moments.” Joyful Moments was chosen to represent the joy of the past and the happy moments available to everyone, regardless of age or ability. By creating enjoyable moments for residents, their loved ones, and staff and volunteers, we help to educate the public about many aspects of long-term care, including how rich life can be for people living in assisted care.

Gerald Hamilton, the National Center for Assisted Living chairman, notes that the theme reflects the joyous bonds built between residents, families, and staff. Hamilton also encourages all assisted living extended families to visit the NALW website for a planning guide and tips for celebrating National Assisted Living Week with friends and family members. There is an opportunity to upload photos and share activity ideas on the website.

How to Get Involved

There are many different ways to celebrate NALW. You do not have to live in an assisted care facility or have a loved one who does to get involved. Call the assisted care facility in your area and ask what you can do to help. Volunteers are always needed to help prepare for special events. Making a care package for staff members, “adopting” a grandparent, offering to hire an entertainer, or submitting a story about National Assisted Living Week to local media are good ways to get involved.

About Caring Places Management

Caring Places Management has been offering “caring places” for seniors to live in since 1991. Caring Places Management maintains several assisted living communities throughout the Pacific Northwest, with the head office in Oregon State. Providing thoughtful care that values all aspects of their residents’ lives is the goal of Caring Places Management. Giving residents their dignity, privacy, and freedom of choice while keeping them safe and healthy and enhancing their lives with enriching activities is what they do every day.

When new federal laws regarding senior living were passed in 1988, Caring Places Management began developing a more social model of senior care. Only three years later, they opened the Forest Grove Beehive, one of the first facilities ever approved for this innovative approach to care. Today, Caring Places Management oversees several facilities. They welcome seniors and their family members to take a tour and see how enjoyable life at an assisted care facility can be.
