Does Medicaid Transfer Between States?

Every state has specific requirements regarding Medicaid eligibility. That means it’s technically possible to qualify for Medicaid in one state but not another.

This also means that if you have Medicaid in one state but move to another, you’ll need to complete the Medicaid application for the state where you ultimately claim residency. Even if you’re simply visiting another state, you can’t use your Medicaid policy to cover non-emergency healthcare.
